Sesame seared tuna with lemon ginger dressing

  • 3 tablespoons white sesame seeds

  • 2 pieces tuna fish fillet

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil paste

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger chopped

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil (or other oil)

  • salt and pepper

  1. In a bowl, add white sesame seeds, pepper and a pinch of salt.

  2. Pat the tuna dry a few times each side with kitchen paper towel then smear a bit of sesame oil on both sides of the fish.

  3. Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat and add the cooking oil. When the oil is hot, carefully lay the tuna fillets in the pan, not touching.

  4. If thin pieces, cook for about 1 minute each side. If they are thicker pieces, cook 2 minutes either side and then you can slightly cook the sides if its thick enough. Remove the fish to a plate.

  5. Mix together the lemon juice, ginger, oil, salt and pepper to taste.

  6. Slice the fish into thin slices and arrange on a plate.

  7. Drizzle some of the lime-ginger vinaigrette over the fish.

  8. Serve with salad or vegetables if desired.
