Golden Arundel sunrise river run
How glorious the greeting of the morning sun.
The golden rays, warming the soul and soil.
A new year is upon us, it has begun.
What morning is yours, each to their own.
But mine? A morning of love, gratitude and fun
Arundel is a beautiful small market town in a steep vale of the South Downs in West Sussex. It's a short 15 minute drive from my house, with easy parking along the outskirts. Early mornings are perfect timing to find a spot, pull on my gloves and head out for a chilly morning sunrise run.
I've always hoped to live in an area that I love, no matter how many times I visit or return, Arundel is definitely one of those places for me.

The winding Arun river runs along eastern edge of the town cutting through farmland and countryside. Open views across the fields back towards the medieval castle and Roman Catholic cathedral sitting proudly above the small village.
Running along the river always makes me smile, the air filled with birdsong from the nearby Wildlife Wetland Trust habitat, the swan families wandering through the open fields and the wind rushing through the grasses along the river bank.
A popular walking route with local dog walkers and running, but remembering to be preparing with good footwear as the path can be quite muddy after heavy rains.
As written by Hal Elrod in the book Miracle Morning -
"Focused, productive, successful mornings generate focused, productive and successful days and when we fail to make time for personal development, we are forced to make time for pain the struggle"
Winters in the UK can be difficult sometimes, waking up to freezing temperatures and no sunlight until about 9am. The last thing we think of doing is heading outside into the cold! But I've realised how great I feel after heading outdoors in the early morning, fitting in a bit of activity, listening to a short meditation on my phone and consciously thinking of the things I'm grateful in life. Motivating myself in the dark morning hours to get dressed and ready becomes easier when I realise how much I appreciate and look forward to this active morning.
Hopefully I may have inspired you to get your body moving in an outdoor space that makes you feel great, for those few minutes on the day to enjoy the beauty of life before heading back to those busy schedules, work lists and family chores.
